ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 26. The body of a naval rating who had not been identified at a late hour wm recovered from the harbour in the vicinity of the Calliope wharf this afternoon. It was found floating face downwards, and was fully clothed in a naval uniform. The body showed signs of having been in the water for several weeks. CHILD DROWNED IN CREEK (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 26. Margaret McLellan, the five-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs H. McLellan, of Tariki, was drowned in a creek at Okoke, north of Urenui, to-day. when she slipped while searching for ducks’ nests. Two other children were with her, and gave the alarm, but the child was drowned before assistance could be obtained.
