CITY OF LOWER HUTT

EMPOWERING LEGISLATION (0.C.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 13. The Lower Hutt Empowering /and Rates Consolidation Bill was introduced into the House of Representatives this afternoon by the Acting Prime Minister. Mr W. Nash, as the member, for Hutt. and read a first time. The measure was made necessary by the recent inclusion of a part of the Hutt County in the City of Lower Hutt. The Bill is divided into three parts. The first empowers the Hutt City Council to make a supplementary urban and farm lands roll. The second part authorises the Hutt City Council to consolidate rates in respect of both original and hew- areas, and the third part permits the council to impose the construction of drainage on owners subdividing land.
