music Circle Mrs L. Beaumont presided oyer a redent meeting of members of the Music Circle of the Otago Women’s Club who listened to an informative lecture by Mrs R. D. Nimmo, entitled Music in Literature.” A wide range of literature was traversed in an interesting way by Mrs Nimmo, the illustrative songs being extracted from the Shakespeare, Milton, and R. L. Stevenson, and modern writers. / The musical programme was .as follows; —Miss Betty Allan, Shakespearian group—-! Mistress Mine* * When that I Was,” “ I Know a Bank ”; Mrs Norman Ellis—“ Let the Bright , Seraphim (words by Milton), “ Young Love Lies Sleeping,” and “We Wandered’’: Mrs Eric Miller and Mrs W. D. G. Hartley, Oh, that we Two were Maying ; Miss :Meda .Paine, A piano duet from Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony was played by Misses Emilie Logie and Anna White, The accompanist during , the evening was Mrs G. H. Elliffe. Mrs Wakefield Holmes .proposed a vote of thanks to ; Mrs, Nimmo!.and the performers.
