FIRE AT BLUFF

THREE SHOPS DESTROYED (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, June 17. Three shops were gutted by fire at Bluff in the early hours of this mornings. They were those of Mrs G. Edginton (boot, retailer). Mrs L, Mortimer (cafe proprietress) and Miss L. Dawson (bookseller and stationer). The alafm' was given from the watchhouse on'the wharf at 0.20 a.m. when flames were seen shooting through the roof of the cafe. Although there was little .wind, the Are spread rapidly and 'enveloped the. shops on either side before it. could be" suppressed.
