CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS

TO THE EDITOR Sir,*-" Loyalty to the Highest ” does not understand that Christ spoke to Peter, not to us or our nations. By drawing the sword Peter would have hindered God’s plan for Christ’s sacrificial work. Christ’s command at the Last Supper to his band of disciples was: "He that has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.” Now nations are not Christian, nor are people ideal, and when evil threatens to over-run the world, and will listen to no appeal, then the last resort is the sword. It should be wielded not in hatred of the enemy but in love for those who are suffering from the enemy’s hatred. Let us not make excuses, but stand behind Britain, the nation in which God has placed us.—l am, etc., Grateful N.Z.
