GERMAN GUNNERY OFFICER AWARDED IRON CROSS (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) BERLIN, June 5. The News Agency announced that Lieutenant Commander Schneider, the first gunnery officer of the Bismarck, who is reputed to be " the man who sank the Hood," has been awarded the Iron Cross. Schneider was presumably saved, because the News Agency states that he was informed of the decoration by a cable message.
