Mr G. Z. Lindley left for Wellington by the through express yesterday. _ Mr S. C. Ringrose was a passenger for Wellington by the mid-day express yesterday. Dr Carmalt Jones was a passenger for Auckland bv the mid-day express yesterday. Cabled advice has been received stating that Privates K. A. Romeril and P. F. Curtis are safe and well Messrs D. M. Spedding and L. Lopdell (Invercargill) left by the through express yesterday for Wellington, to attend a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union. Major-general R. Young. Dominion Commander of the Home Guard, will leave for Gore this morning after completing an-inspection .of units inSthis area;/including'-the' physical training class. The executive committee of the Otago Expansion League, at its meeting on Tuesday night, passed a motion of condolence with the relatives of Mr W. B. Steel, who was secretary of the league for 24 years.
