Personal.—Mr Barclay has been appointed headmaster of the local high school and commenced .his duties •when the schooi reopened after the term holidays.—Mr Beath has been appointed first assistant. Hockey.—A hockey match was played on the local ground on Saturday against a team from Milton. Owaka was no match for its opponents, the result being 7 goals to nil. The Owaka girls, however, gained some valuable experience. Rehabilitation of Soldiers.—ln connection with the rehabilitation of soldiers and the appointment of a delegate to represent this district a meeting was held in the Memorial Hall last Wednesday evening. Representatives were present from the Owaka, Katea and Tahatika Patriotic Committees and R.S.A, A local zone committee was formed, consisting of Messrs Broad and McDowall (Owaka Patriotic Committee), Mr Wroble (Katea Patriotic Committee), Mr Friend (Tahatika Patriotic Committee) and Messrs Latta and Gorman (R.S.A.). Mr Maginness is to represent the residents of his riding. Mr Latta was elected secretary and Mr Gorman chairman and delegate.
