BLOOD TRANSFUSION

SOCIETY'S ANNUAL MEETING The .annual meeting of the Dunedin Voluntary Blood Transfusion Society was held last night, and was well attended. Mr J. W. Dove occupied the chair in the unavoidable absence of the chairman, Dr R. A. H. Fulton. . Dr V. E. .Cable gave an interesting address on " Blood Transfusion in Wartime." .He spoke of the preparation and developments which had been made recently in blood transfusion, and outlined the methods used in England in time of emergency. Before the war, an appeal had been made for blood donors, Dr Cable said, and it had met with a magnificent response. He added that the majority of the volunteers were women, who were willing to come to the'hospitals after working from early in the morning till late at night. Dr M. McGeorge moved that the Dunedin Society be affiliated to the New Zealand Blood Transfusion Council, provided that no financial obligation was undertaken. The motion was carried.
