TO THE EDITOR
Sir, —Consideration of the advertising “bull” habitually emitted from station 4ZB would justify the conclusion . that New Zealanders are a nation of ill-nourished, rheumaticky and constipated neurasthenics and hypochondriacs in perpetual fear “ that their best friends won’t tell them.” We are daily deluged with a spate of specious argument, inaccurate pseudoscientific statements and solicitude, often offensive, for the proper working of our normal functions. Radio technique has yet to evolve a method of exploiting the one remaining exciting human function referred to obliquely and perhaps unconsciously by the night starvation experts, but I have no doubt that the difficulty will be overcome when the financial reward promises to be large enough. In presenting this plea for more restraint, more honesty and more dignity in the presentation of advertising matter, I suggest that perhaps there is a public which refrains from purchasing articles so advertised. —I am. etc.. Fair Cow. May 12.
