To-night’s the great big night j S TO-NIGHT : TO-NIGHT I TO-NIGHT : TO-NIGHT I TO-NIGHT : TO-NIGHT j SEE THEM : HEAR THEM : RESERVE SEATS NOW. By Permission Minister of Defence, Hon. F. Jones. BAND OF ROYAL NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE BAND OF ROYAL 'NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE BAND OF ROYAL NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE BAND OF ROYAL NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE t Conductor: Flight Lieutenant Gladstone Hill, Director of Music, R.N.Z.A.F. ONE NIGHT ONLY ONE NIGHT ONLY •NLY ONE CHANCE ONLY ONE PERFORMANCE MAIN TOWN HALL at 8 MAIN TOWN HALL at 8 FOR TO-NIGHT ONLY It’s here! It’s in Dunedin. Here in all its glory! The Royal New Zealand Air Force Band, the Dominion’s Greatest Band working m New Zealand’s greatest cause—money for comforts for our fighters overseas. A contemporary comment on the band’s performance states: “The orchestration of ‘The Eaglet ’ is on modern and novel'lines, and offers tremendous scone for the instrumentation of the band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The dynamic and majestic treatment of the opening of the ‘ Maori Rhapsody ’ and its maddening accelerando is a revelation. This selection is a rich musical treat. The velocity and polish in some of the movements, the ineffable beauty with which is cloaked the lovely andante movements, and the dynamic energy and fiery spirit which marks the playing of the final movement, allegro molto vivace, are a revelation of dignified artistry of the highest order. This band has the delicacy and elasticity of an orchestra; in the lighter passages of some numbers one can almost detect the tonal textures of strings in the sweeping runs of the clarinets, flute, and oboe, while the splendid pomposity of the bass section adds dignity and weight where such is needed.” ONLY ONE NIGHT—AND IT’S TO-NIGHT AT 8 IN THE MAIN TOWN HALL—TO-NIGHT ONLY This famous band has an extensive repertoire, including a number of novelty items. Tomorrow evening’s programme has been compiled by the conductor, Flight Lieutenant Gladstone Hill, director of music, R.N.Z.A.F., and will include both classical and modern works.
