RED CROSS SOCIETY
CENTRE OFFICIALLY FORMED The first meeting of delegates from the sub-centres of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society was held on Monday. The purpose of the meeting was the official formation of the centre for the Otago district, and representatives were present from Anderson's Bay, Broad Bay, Concord, Dalmore-Opoho, Green Island, Kaltangata, Lawrence, Middlemarch, Milburn, Moneymore, North-East Valley, Queenstown, Ranfurly, Waipiata and Warepa branches of the society. Reports on the work done since the formation of the society in the various districts were given by all delegates. Mr J W. Smeaton (chairman of the meeting) and Miss Belle McLean (vice-president of the Dunedin branch) congratulated the branches on the amount of work already completed in the face of difficulties and restrictions encountered at the present time. _ ,„ • . The following Executive Committee fot the centre was elected:-President-chair-man, Mr Charles V. Smith; committeeMiss Belle McLean (Dunedin), Miss E. L. Wilkin (Dunedin), Mrs Reg. Dawson (Dunedin), Mrs W. Elliott (Clarendon), Mrs Batchelor (Lawrence), Mrs R. Elliott (Middlemarch), Mrs McKellar (St Clair), Mrs Scott (Broad Bay), and Mr J. W. Smeaton (Dunedin); secretary, Miss Olga C. Nees; delegates to the Dominion Council (Wellington), Miss Belle McLean and Mr Charles V. Smith. The Executive Committee will meet everv three months, and a full meeting of delegates will be held annually. In this way the branches will be kept in closer touch with the internal working of the society.
