TOWN HALL DANCE

The 1941 “Apple Derby ” was the feature of the weekly Town Hall Dance on Saturday night, when several couples competed for the cash prizes and cases of apples to be presented to the winners. The contest was. won by Miss Bennett and Mr H. Browne, with Miss Heller and Mr J. Booth second, and Miss Nation and Mr Calder third. Several students in gay costumes took part in an unofficial contest. and the winners of the cases of apples distributed the fruit among the large crowd of dancers and spectators present. Julian Lee’s band supplied the music for the modern dancing in the Town Hall, with Miss Irene Brookes and Messrs Arthur Waller and James MacFarlane as vocalists. Oldtime dancing again attracted a largo crowd to the Concert Chmber. where Wright’s Rhythm Band supplied the music and Mr David Maharey was the vocalist.
