FORBURY PARK MEETING

Huguenot principal winner

I PARRISH GUIDE SUCCESSFUL

FINAL EVENT TO WORTHY NEED

The Forbury Park Trotting Club’s ■winter meeting was corfcluded yesterday Under favourable conditions, and attracted a large attendance, suggesting that more people can participate in racing on a Monday than on a Thursday, which falls pn the eve of the busiest day of the week. The track provided remarkably good going for the time of the year, and the atmospheric conditions were favourable owing to an entire absence of wind. There was some very interesting raring. and the final event provided one of the finest finishes' ever seen on the course. Backers received a bad run right through the day, particularly in connection with the principal event. On form and reputation. Gold Bar was confidently backed, but he finished last. He was a bit slow tb move and then raced to the front and set the pace until he commenced to drop back about two furlongs from home. The pace set was probably too fast to last, and apparently rather .too much use was made of the favourite. The Judicial Committee was kept fairly busy during the day; and the results should prove beneficial to the interests of light-harness racing. The meeting may be said to mark , the conclusion of a successful season at Forbury Park. A . Tatouna Handicap Royal Worthy was made a short-priced favourite for the Tahuna Handicap. He began well, and had joined Westcliff in the lead with a lap to go. Royal Worthy went on from Westcliff three furlongs
