THE MAYORAL

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —I see that Mr Allen and Mr Cameron seem determined to stand for the Mayoralty. I know these gentlemen slightly. I am sure that either of them would fill the position admirably, and I do not really care which of them is chosen. If I had to decide, then I rather feel that, if one of them has already had three years in office and there is no outstanding reason for his retention, then the other should be given the opportunity. If they both stand then, like many others, I shall vote for neither. Such obstinacy and small-mindedness does not -deserve a vote, and it is certain that Labour will not be so stupid. If the Citizens’ Committee does not now exist and cannot decide, then I suggest that a toss of the coin would be a fair method of solving the difficulty.—l am, etc., • Conservative. Dunedin. February 8.
