AWARD FOR AIRMAN
NEW ZEALAND PILOT COOLNESS AND COURAGE LONDON, Feb. 10. In connection with the award of the D.F.C. to Flight Lieutenant G. R. Magill (Ruakaka, Te Aroha), the official citation says: “Flight Lieutenant Magill in the majority of his squadron’s operations over Eritrea and Abyssinia in the past six months as formation leader, and in individual day and night raids his careful planning and execution of long raids in bad weather over difficult country, often against strong opposition, contributed materially to the squadron’s successes. On October 29 he led a formation attack against Danghila, which inflicted considerable damage to the enemy battalion. At all times Flight Lieutenant Magill displayed the utmost coolness and courage.
