NEW INDUSTRIES

INSPECTED BY MINISTER One of Dunedin's newest- manufacturing concerns, that of Rickitt and Colman (N.Z.), Ltd., was inspected by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr D. G. Sullivan) yesterday during the course of an all-day tour of some of the city's factories. Mr Sullivan was impressed with the work being carried out by the firm. In a short address to the girls employed in the factory, the Minister commented on the expansion of secondary industries during the Government's term of office and referred to the valuable work being done by the employees. Mr Sullivan was accompanied on his tour by the president of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation (Mr C. V. Smith), the president of the Dunedin Manufacturers' Association (Mr J. C. H. Somerville), and other members of the manufacturing community. Mr Sullivan also paid a visit to Methven's factory, and congratulated the firm on its enterprise.
