BOXING

STRICKLAND AND RICHARDS PROPOSED BOUT IN SYDNEY (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON. Feb. 8. The Sydney cablegram lit regard to the Strickland-Richards maich was referred to Strickland, who said he and his manager, Mr Crowley, had made all arrangements to leave for Sydney in time for the bout with Richards, under Mr C. Lucas's promotion, on February 24. The final word from Mr Lucas and the matter of,transportation were still awaited. Stri6kland had not heard previously of Richards's refusal to fight him or of his retirement. Strickland proposes sending a cablegram to Mr Lucas to ascertain the position. The New Zealander is at present training for the bout.
