SANDERS CUP
OTAGO BOAT CHOSEN WAMPA FOR AUCKLAND The crew of the Wampa (Messrs A. Hunter, C. Reid, W. McCormack, J. Todd and R. Ball) advised the Otagb Yacht and Motor Boat Association at its meeting last night that they had decided to take this boat to the Sanders Cup contest. The secretary (Mr C. J Pettit) reported that after many recent tests with the Evelyn and Lynette, the Wampa had been proved the best all-rcund performer. Other members agreed with this opinion. In the absence of the president (Mr C. Smith), Mr F. Bewley was in the chair. Other members present were Messrs G. Innes. R. Fraser. J. Hill-Scully. G. Currie.. J. Arnold. J. Sutherland and D. Neason.- > Messrs McCormack and Pettit (the manager) were appointed delegates to the Sanders Cup conference. The Sanders Cup secretary (Mr W. H. Beanland) advised that a late entry had been received for the contest from South Canterbury. The Auckland association "was in favour of its acceptance, if the other provinces approved.—The secretary reported that he had advised the secretary that the admission of South Canterbury was approved by Otago. The Auckland association notified that the first Sanders Cup race would be held on January 30. following the Auckland Anniversary Regatta on January 29. General The Burkes-St. Leonards Regatta Committee wrote requesting confirmation of February 8 as the date for its annual regatta.—The date was confirmed pending an arrangement being made with the Port Chalmers Club, which had previously been allotted the same day. Mr Currie reported that a number of yachts had been sailing without numbers.—Delegates were advised to inform their clubs that class colours and numbers must be carried.
