DEALING WITH RAIDERS
Here, in a letter to friends in Auckland, is the laconic way a woman resident in a district near London describes such commonplaces as enemy activity: "A Jerry plane came up here a few days ago. They shelled it. Then a fighter went up and finished it off about 12 miles away. In fact, no plane which has come over here in daylight has ever got away. Of course, they come over every night, but unless they are in large numbers or try to locate the works they are not fired at, for that, I suppose,' tells them they are _ over the mark." Incidentally, the district mentioned contains works of considerable military importance.
