THE CHAMPION STAKES SPECIAL FORCE SUCCESSFUL CUP TO PETER SMITH (Per United Press Association) ASHBURTON, Dec. 26. A record gate and totalisator figures, which were only £9 short of the record, were features of the Ashburton Trotting Club's summer meeting to-day. The totalisator handled £36.293. against 23.528 10s on a wet day last year. The weather was ideal and the track fast. Following are the results:— MITCHAM HANDICAP, Of £l5O.
