BUILDING BY-LAW

THE STANDARD CODE REPORT BY WORKS COMMITTEE The Works Committee of the City Council, in its fortnightly report, states that, following a conference between representatives of the Otago branch New Zealand Institute of Architects, with the city engineer and his deputy, which was arranged at the request of the former to discuss further the New Zealand Standard Code of Building Bylaws, the committee has had the opportunity of considering a letter from the institute which sets out the views of that body as the result of its further deliberations on the whole subject. The institute now withdraws opposition to the adoption of the Standard Code, subject to certain recommendations. It now accepts the recommendations of the Public Works Committee. and the committee recommends that its report be adopted by the council and that as- an addition thereto the council approve the proposals of the institute that all parts of the Standard Code be bound together and issued as a complete building by-law, together with an addenda embodying' certain modifications.
