BRITAIN'S PROSPECTS AMERICAN CONFIDENCE (By Wireless) LONDON, Dec. 5. (Received Dec. 6, at 2 a.m.) Renewed evidences of confidence in the United States in Britain's chances of victory are reported today. These are based not only on the Greek successes in Albania, but on the statement of General Chaney that the Royal Air Force had struck a decisive blow at German ambition. The New York Herald-Tribune says: "It took four years' suffering to make good the victory of the Marne in J 914. This war will see many more terrific battles, but the British have won a colossal success, and it is not for them or their friends to be pessimistic." BOMBING OF CORFU FIERCE INDIGNATION ATHENS, Dec. 5. (Received Dec. 6, at 2 a.m.) The whole of the press is voicing fierce indignation at the bombing of Corfu and the atrocities committed by Italian troops. One war correspondent says that Greek soldiers who entered elaborate enemy defence works found girls who had been carried off by Italian officers from neighbouring villages and sacrificed to the Fascist slogan of "Love and war."
