Cricket On Saturday a further round of matches in the Maniototo Cricket Association competition was completed. The match on the local ground between Ranfurly and Patearoa was also a challenge for the Greer Cup. Patearoa batted first, and Greer and McAtamney were together in a fine partnership, each batting solidly for 44 and 39 respectively. 'The last six batsmen were dismissed without opening their score. Patearoa's innings closed for a total of 106. Ranfurly made 88 (Bleach 15, Lynch 14, and J. P. Kearney 11 not out). Bowling for Patearoa, McAtamnev took five wickets for 36 and J. W. Blakely four for 20. For Ranfurly. J. P. Muiholland four for 31 and Lynch five for 38 had the best averages. At Naseby the home side scored a narrow win over Becks, the final scores being: N2seby 85 (Knowles 11, Maskell 19, Lindsay 11, and Brew 16; Mee two for 16. Harley three f6r 15, and Kane two for 18) and Becks 74 (Kane 32 and Shaw 11; Brown three for 23. Knowles five for 27). Knowles in the last over of the day took the last three wickets without the addition of any runs. In the other match Waipiata defeated Otureliua. The draw for next Saturday is as follows:—Naseby v. Waipiata, Oturehua v. Patearoa. Ranfurly v. Becks. Maniototo Hospital Board The monthly meeting of the Maniototo Hospital Board was held at Ranfurly on Wednesday last, and was attended by Messrs T. A. Lowis (chairman), W. C. Davis, and M. H. Hanrahan (members of the committee) and Dr W. S. Eudey (medical superintendent). The medical superintendent reported that during October 5 males and 20 females had been admitted and 3 males and 20 females had been discharged, leaving 18 patients in the hospital at the end of the month. Nine babies were born in the hospital during October. Advice was received from the Waipiata Sanatorium that a patient from the Maniototo district had been admitted to the sanatorium on November 6. The secretary reported that receipts for the month of October amounted to £7OB 18s 7d, and at the date of the meeting there was a ciedit balance in the bank account amounting to £6lO 9s 2d. Accounts and salaries amounting to £636 18s 2d were passed for payment.
