APPRENTICESHIP ORDER

PLUMBING AND GASFITTING INDUSTRY An apprenticeship order covering the plumbing and gasfitting industry in the Otago and Southland industrial district has been issued by the industrial magistrate, Mr J. A. Gilmour The order, which embodies the recommendations of the Apprenticeship Committee, provides for <t term of six years. The minimum rates of wages for apprentices whose commencing ages are under 18 years range from 15s for the first six months to £3 10s for the twelfth six months, and for apprentices starting after the age of 18, £1 10s for the first six months to £4 5s for the twelfth period. The following towns are included in the district covered by the order:— Alexandra. Arrowtown, Balclutha. Clinton, Clyde, Cromwell, Kaitangata, Lawrence, Middlemarch, Milton, Ophir, Naseby, Outram, Owaka, Pembroke. Palmerston, Queenstown, Roxburgh, St. Bathans, Tapanui. Waikouaitj and Waitahuna.
