According to advance reports, a part of this realism is due to the authenticity of the enormous Upper Amazon jungle sets, constructed after months of research Bui the major reason probably hes inline players themselves—Fairbanks, Miss Bennett.' W, Jacobs, side-show men organised by Mr B. B Blackmore, organisers of the mock court, local body staffs, women’s organisations, and all who had taker pari >n the work of the fair.

MEETING OF CREDITORS A BANKRUPT ESTATE UNPROFITABLE CONTRACTS A meeting ot creditors in the bankrupt estate. of William Stevenson Carlile was •held before the Deputy Official Assignee (Mr A. W. Woodward, J.P.) yesterday morning. Six Oamaru solicitors were present, representing creditors. The bankrupt’s statement showed tne total debt- at £4178 12s 9d (unsecured creditors £778 12s 9d, secured creditors £3400) and total assets at £B2 18s 4d. In his written statement, bankrupt stated that he commenced business as a builder In Oamaru In 1934. At that time he owned a truck, all the necessary tools, and had about £l5O capital. He started In a small way, and did well out of contracts He built, with the idea of, doing his own joinery, a workshop at a cost of about £250, and gradually acquired machinery, which cost him in excess of £ISOO. He constructed a'kiln for drying timber at a cost of approximately £BOO. The kiln and workshop were worthless to-day. In 1937 he engaged a man and a boy, and later put tlu;ee men on at a wages cost of approximately £lB 10s a week. He considered that it was a mistake on his part ever to have gone in for a workshop with expensive plant and material, and to have engaged the last three men. Frequently he had to accept contracts which were unprofitable, and had to put in very lowtenders so that he could keep these men engaged, and his contracts showed losses, and in some cases he himself drew scarcely more than wages. He now thought that this was the actual cause of his bankruptcy. He considered he had lived economically, and had worked consistently long hours, and had had only one holiday In six years. He neither drank, smoked, gambled, nor attended vace meetings. After an examination,' the meeting ot creditors approved of the payment forthwith of the amounts legally owing to those sub-contractors who had claims of lien or claims of -change, and also the payment of any surplus under an assigned contract. The ■ deputy official assignee was asked to makg an examination of bankrupt’s accounts, and report back to the meeting, which was adjourned to November 18.
