WORK OF LIAISON OFFICER EARLY ARRIVAL IN DOMINION (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 18. Major Cyril Bavin, 0.8. E., who has been appointed by the Children’s Overseas Reception Board, London, as liaison officer to the British Children’s Reception Committee in New Zealand, will be attached to the staff of the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand, Sir Harry Batterbee, and will work in close collaboration with the superintendent of child welfare. Major Bavin, who is expected to arrive in New Zealand shortly,, has been associated with the Y.M.C.A. for many years, and has had considerable experience in dealing with problems connected the welfare of young people. Major Bavin is a New Zealander by birth, but he went to England at an early age. He has visited Australia and New Zealand on a number of occasions.
