TRAVELLING EXPENSES
REDUCTION OF GRANT ANGLICAN SYNOD DECISION (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 17., A declaration by Mr E. H. S. Hamilton of his intention to resign from the Christchurch Anglican Synod, from the Standing Committee of the diocese, and from the Diocesan Board of Nominators followed the ending tonight of a protracted debate by, the synod on its financial appropriations. Mr Hamilton’s statement followed the decision of the synod to delete from the appropriation the £SO grant for the archdeacon's travelling expenses. The deletion was to make good.the deficiency caused when synod raised the overhead travelling grant on the previous night from the reduced figure of £6BO to £750. It was contended that the reduction in this grant proposed by the Standing Committee would fall too heavily on many of the cures.
