MATSON STEAMERS
MONTEREY AND MARIPOSA SAILING ARRANGEMENTS (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 17. The Matson Line’s agents state that the Monterey, which has left for the Far East to evacuate American nationals, will continue to Sydney and Auckland with Far Eastern passengers, who will thus have the round trip to America. The Monterey will bring her cargo to Australia and New Zealand, and will also load cargo here for America. The transhipment position, therefore, will not be as serious as was at first supposed. Two southbound sailings in November and one northbound sailing in December will be cancelled. The Monterey is due at Sydney about November 12 and at Auckland about November 26. The Mariposa, which was to have left Auckland on Monday for Honolulu, now leaves on Tuesday. The passengers and mail will be transhipped at Honolulu to the Lurline.
