The college has been the victim of several practical jokes in the past, and these have been taken in good part, but yesterday’s manifestar tion of a perverted sense of humour had nothing to commend it either in the, matter of originality or timeliness, particularly in view of the • exceptional circumstances ' at brege^t'"existing, t* The explosion ■ wSs ' r of -'sdfnCiejjt to; startle;’a largd’flQrribee&f people living in the north end ■ ofgthe city and even awakened, residents in the adjacent hill suburbs, but, fortunately. the windows near the college doorway withstood t>>e blast, and, apart from a slight disfigurement of the paintwork on the door, no damage resulted. It is thought that student* might have been responsible 'for the foolish affair, but the college authorities state that they prefer to let' the matter drop as being too childish to warrant any particular action being taken.
