DUNEDIN BURNS CLUB
MONTHLY CONCERT A particularly enjoyable programme of vocal, instrumental and elocutionary numbers was presented at the monthly meeting of the Dunedin Burns Club in the Concert Chamber last night, the concert being provided by members of Mr J. T. Leech’s Lyric Choir and assisting artists. During the course of the evening the president (Mr Arthur Macdonald) called upon all Scots In Dunedin to send in cakes and goods to the Octagon stall on Saturday in aid of the Old English Fay re. The programme was as follows Part song, “In the Springtime,” Lyric Choir: song, “ Gae Bring tae Me.” Mr Bren Wilkins: part song, “ Ilka Blade o’ Grass,” Mr H. Black and Lyric Choir; character recital. “ On the Beach.” Miss Billie Loan; song, " Hame,” Mrs Alex. Chisholm; duet and chorus. “ My Ain Folk," Misses Eileen Gillies and Doris Adcock and Lyric Choir; national reel, Misses Eileen Bevin, Lola Robertson, Margaret Henderson and Eileen McLachlan; song, “Bonnie Dundee.” Mr Walter Mitchell: song and chorus. Mary,” Mr John T. Leech and Lyric Choir: pianoforte duet, “ Invitation to the Waltz,” Misses Olive and Ellice Nieper; Hebridean song and chorus, “ Heart of Fire Love,” Mrs W. Hall Masters and Lyric Choir; song, "Auld Scotch Songs,” Miss Sadie Anderson; cradle song and chorus. “ Can Ye Sew Cushions? ” Miss Jean McLay and Lyric Choir; duet, " Turn Ye Tae Me," Miss Dorothy Barron and Mrs J. McFarlane: song and chorus, “ Loch Lomond,” Mr lan Collins and Lyric Choir; patriotic ode, “ This England,” Lyric Choir; oration by Miss Billie Loan. The conductors were Mr Leech and Mr W. Armstrong, and Miss Sybil Baker, who arranged the settings of the choral numbers, played the pianoforte accompaniments.
