LEVEL-CROSSING SMASH
CAR PASSENGERS INJURED CHILD IN SERIOUS CONDITION (Per United Press Association) v AUCKLAND. Oct. 4. A collision occurred between a light rrotor car and a Hamilton-Cambridge passenger train at the Matangi crossing at 4 o'clock this afternoon, and several occupants of the car were -injured. They were: Mrs Amy Muriel Bath,-aged 28,.wife of Mr William Bath, of Matangi, injuries to hip and leg, condition hot serious . . * Ean Wilfred Bath, aged four, head injuries, fracture, of arm.; and injuries to foot, condition serious. * ' * ' "'■- Barbara Robinson, aged two years, daughter of Mr C. Robinson.-c-f Matangi. shock and abrasions. The car was being driven by Mrs Elizabeth Robinson in a northerly direction and struck the side of the engine It was thrown into; the;ait* and was extensively damaged. Mrs Bath was thrown several yards beyond the car, and a piece of wood penetrated several inches into her left leg.
