FINE AND COOL Forecast for Otago.— The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was Issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Light to moderate easterly to north-easterly winds. Weather fair .to fine and cool. Seas slight to moderate. Dominion Forecast.— An anti-cyclone eovers the South Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand, while a depression, which appears to be deepening, is located to the north of the North Island. Weather: Occasional rain in most parts of the Auckland province, but more especially in the extreme north and cloudv east of the main ranges, with- scattered showers between East. Cape • and Castlepoint, but only morning drizzle or fog thence southwards. Otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures moderate in western districts. Eleswehere cool, with moderate frosts. '-.;': Weather in Dunedin.— The sun shone brightly yesterday from a practically cloudless sky, but a cold north-east breeze prevailed in the afternoon and temperatures did not rise above 54 degrees. The barometer fell to 30.25 inches (1024 millibars) where it remained steady. Barometer, inches and millibars: 8 a.m., 30.35 (1028)- noon, 30.30 (1026); 6 p.m., 30.25 (1024); midnight, 30.25 (1024). Thermometer: 8 a.m., 45 degrees; noon, 54 degrees; 6 p.m.. 48 degrees; midnight, 46 degrees.. Maximum, 54 degrees; minimum, 42 degrees. Rainfall for 24 h.oursended midnight yesterday—nil.
