WORKERS IN INDUSTRY POWER OF DISMISSAL VESTED IN MINISTER (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. Under the heading of “Obstruction of Essential Industries,” an amendment to the Public Safety Emergency Regulations empowering the Attorney-gen-eral to order the dismissal of any worker in the interests of public safety was gazetted to-night. The Minister may order the termination of any employee’s engagement should he consider it necessary for the effective prosecution of the war or the maintenance of essential industries. The necessary notice may be served on either the employee or his employer. and the man concerned shall not be re-engaged by the same employer without the Minister’s consent. The term “ employee ” is held to cover the holder of any office in an organisation The Attorney-general is also empowered to exclude any person from being or becoming a member of any industrial union or association or other organisation of employers or workers, if he considers this necessary or expedient in the interests of public safety. Anv person so excluded shall not be readmitted to the organisation without the prior written consent of the Attorney-general. The right of appeal to the Court ol Arbitration is provided. The court may confirm, modify or reverse the decision annealed from, but no decision shall be reversed unless the court is satisfied the acts which the decision was intended to prevent are not likely to be committed.
