£IOO FOR SOLDIERS’ PARCELS The final community sing of the season, held in the Mayfair Theatre yesterday, resulted in the excellent total of £93 being collected for the fund to provide gift parcels for soldiers. This sum will be increased to £IOO by the South Dunedin Businessmen’s Association, which has promoted these sessions, and th< money will be handed over to the Patriotic Council. The sing was conducted by Mr R. McKenzie, assisted by Mr E. Fish, as song leader and Mrs E. D. Cameron, at the piano. Mr Fred Wilson and Mr E. Otlrey provided solos. At the conclusion of the session' Mr McKenzie thanked those who had so generously supported the sing during the season, and also expressed the thanks of the organisers to Mr John Hamer and the staff of the Mayfair Theatre. The grand finale of the season will be held in His Majesty’s Theatre on October 5, and endeavours ore being made to obtain permission to give the proceeds to air raid sufferers in Great Britain. Should the desired permission be granted, several handsome donations will be immediately forthcoming.
