ENGAGEMENT

The engagement is announced between Bevan, son of Mr and Mrs J. M. Wilkie, of Ashburton, and Eileen,twin daughter of the late Dr and Mrs A. J. Paterson (Auckland). The Tawanui Institute met at Beechvale on Tuesday last. Mrs Sharpe presiding. The roll call was, “A holiday experience,” and the motto, “ Open wide your windows to the sunny side of life and let in the happy breezes.” The competitions resulted: Vase of spring flowers—Mrs Tyson 1. Mrs Potts 2. Hat trimming—Mrs Miller 1. Mrs Potts 2. Mrs Sharpe was elected delegate to attend the half-yearly meeting at Balclutha. A donation of 5s was made towards the Makogai Leper Fund. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Sharpe.
