REPAIRS TO FREIGHTER

MOTOR SHIP ARMADALE WORK WELL IN HAND (Special ro Daily Times) WELLINGTON. Sept. 11. Repairs to the British motor ship Armadale are proceeding satisfactorily, said Mr C. M. Turrell, general manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd., which is the representative of the owners .of the ship, the Australind Steam Shipping Company, of London ‘ The Armadale, a freighter of 5066 tons, wa o involved in a collision in Cook Strait on the night of July 31 with the Norwegian tanker Ole Jacob (8306 tons), and was‘damaged extensively, a big hole being ripped in her hull near the bows. An inspection of the damage to the Armadale was ade early last month when she went into the floating dock. After this survey the ship came out of dock and was berthed a' the Aotea quay breastwork. She went into dock again on August 23, and Mr Turrell said to-day that it was estimated the repairs would take about eight weeks from that date.
