MEAT EXPORTERS
INVESTIGATION OF ACCOUNTS RELATION OF RETURNS TO COSTS (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 8. Machinery for the investigation of meat exporters' accounts in accordance with the decision announced in Parliament some weeks ago is set out in the meat exporters' accounts emergency regulations, 1940, which were contained in to-night's Gazette. The purpose of the investigation is to enable the Minister of Marketing (Mr Nash) to determine whether the net returns received by farmers' and other suppliers of live stock intended for the production of meat for export and the charges for services rendered in connection with such stock or meat before its acceptance by the Marketing Department are fair and reasonable. In no case shall any investigation be concerned with the accounts of any meat exporter for any period earlier than three years immediately prior to the operation of the marketing order, 1939.
