OTAGO CHAMPIONSHIP MASON AND STEWART IN THE FINAL The semi-finals in the Otago Amateur Billiards Championship were played last evening. In the first game Mason beat Pearce 500 and 480. Pearce was the first to take the lead and at the first hundred the scores were Pearce 108, Mason 78. The latter was the first to reach 200, but from then on Pearce scored very steadily and reached 400. when Mason's total was 358. Pearce increased his lead and at 'a later stage the scores were Pearce 450. Mason 367. Mason then found touch and with a series of useful breaks drew level, the score being 476-all. Pearce added only foui to his tally when Mason reached his points. Mason's best breaks were 46, 31, 29, 27, 23 and.2o. He averaged 5.9 Pearce's best efforts were 39. 36, 30 In the s-econd game, between Stewart and Proctor, the former was in his best form throughout the game. He early assumed the lead and when he reached "150 Proctor's score was 29 He continued to score freely by losing hazard play and his control of the red ball was an eye-opener to the spectators. Proctor executed some very nice shots, but Stewart was invincible. He ran to his points when Proctor's score was 208. Stewart's best breaks were 112. 57, 42, 41, 35. 32. 30 21 and 27 unfinished. Proctor made 44 and 2.3.

The final. 1000 up. between Mason and Stewart, will be played on Monday and Tuesday next in sessions of 500. The games wilLb' started at 8 p.m.
