The Daily Mail says that the Duke's appointment followed his personal request for employment. The Bahamas, a group of islands in the British West Indies, extend some 650 miles between Florida and Haiti. They were the first land discovered by Columbus in 1492. and were settled by the British in 1629. The islands ave under a Governor, who is assisted by a legislative and an executive council. Nassau, on New Providence, is the seat of the Government.
