TAXING BILLS

EXPECTED THIS WEEK THE COMPULSORY LOAN PROCEDURE NOT DECIDED (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 8. It is probable that the taxing Bills necessary to give effect to the Budget provisions will be introduced in the House of Representatives this week. The Minister of Finance. Mr W. Nash, said in an interview to-night that the Bills were ready for presentation, and, although he could not say definitely, it was likely that they would make their appearance during the week. The Minister said the provision for Is in the £ wages tax for national security would probably operate from the week following the passing of the Bill. He added that it had not yet been decided whether special legislation would be necessary to set m motion the machinery for a compulsory loan. This might possibly be done under the emergency regulations.

Mr Nash said there was no more major legislation planned for the immediate future at any rate.
