OBITUARY
MR J. J. BOYD The death occurred on Monday of Mr John James Boyd, who was secretary of Messrs Coull Somerville and Wilkie. Born at the Moonlight gold diggings, near Queenstown, in 1874. Mr Boyd was educated at the Queensstown School and served as a grocer's assistant to the late Mr W. C. Cochrane. He later came to Dunedin and entered business, being secretary of Messrs Irvine and Stevenson for a number of years. He then started in business on his own account at Otautau, and later was appointed secretary of Messrs Coull, Somerville and Wilkie, a position he occupied at the time of his death. Mr Boyd was a proficient musician in his younger days, and at one time was a member of the Dunedin Orchestral Society. He was also a keen bowler, playing with the Rosiyn Club, and he took a great interest in Freemasonry, being a member of the Otago Lodge, No. 7, and the Royal Arch Chapter, N.Z.C. The death is announced of Mr Justice Boyce, aged 68 years. He had been a judge of the Supreme Court in New South Wales since 1932. He was a member of the Legislative Council from 1924 to 1932
