Riigby Football Owing to the state of the grounds on Saturday, all Senior Grade matches were postponed. On the local ground Ranfurly Second Grade played Southern, the vi='ting team winning by 14 points to 11. The draw for next Saturday is as follows: Naseby v. Ida Valley; Ranfurly v. Becks: Southern, a bye. Skating Following very heavy frosts in the early part of last week, the Ranfurly winter sports dam on Thursday morning was covered with a sufficient thickness of ice to allow of the first skating of the season. Enthusiasts, making the most of their opportunities, were on the ice in the early morning and late at night, when the ice was in particularly good order. On Sunday, when there was no thaw, the ice held throughout the day, and large numbers of skaters were attracted the whole day Miniature Rifle Shooting At the weekly shoot of the Ranfurly Miniature Rifle Club last week the average was 77.3, and the rifle button was won by J. Scott and the handicap button by C. White. The first possible of the season was scored by A. Parker, who again repeated the performance at this week’s shoot. On Monday night the attendance was very poor, with the result that the average dropped to 76.7 The rifle button was won bv J. P Kornev and the handicap button by R. J. Hanrahan.
