WELLINGTON CONTROLLER ■ V . • - 1 ■ . I ‘ \ APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 17. Captain C. C. Vanden-Bergh has been appointed waterfront controller at Wellington by the Minister of Labour (Mr P. C. Webb). 'Captain Vanden-Bergh was till to-day, when he took up his new duties, manager of the Wellington Waterside’Labour Bureau. ■ ■ - ■ j For four years and a-half; during the Great War he was a lieutenant in the Royal Naval Reserve. He was employed by the Commonwealth and Dominion Line for 20 years, and commanded their ships and ships on the China coast. He holds an extra 1 master’s certificate. In 1931 he returned to New. Zealand, joining the staff of the Westfield Freezing Company, Auckland! In 1936 he went to Lyttelton, where he inaugurated the Waterside Labour Bureau, and in the following year he took op a similar position in Wellington.
