SCHOOL COMMITTEES
WORK OF ASSOCIATION The monthly meeting of the executive of the Schools Committees' Association of Otago, held on Thursday evening, was presided over by Mr M. A. Robson. The application of SeaclifT School Committee for affiliation was granted. A suggestion by the Port Chalmers Committee that the Minister of Health be approached with a view to having the school dental clinic scheme placed under the Social Security Act was referred to the annual meeting. Messrs 11. R. Hunt and W. D. Sutherland advised that they had now retired from school committee work, and appreciation of their long services was expressed. Arrangements were completed for the annual meeting to be held on June 27. Annual Report The annual report of the association states that the number of committees affiliated at the end of the year was 61, an increase of three on tire previous year. At the present time a “ drive ” for increased membership was being conducted. The Vocational Guidance Association, il was stated, continued to play a useful part and was proving of great benefit both to employers and to young people. The report added that the finances were lower than at the end of last year, and asked committees to realise that the association could function efficiently only when subscriptions were paid regularly by all affiliated committees.
