DISMISSALS FROM HILLSIDE

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —Men are to be dismissed from Hillside. This is not very consistent of the Labour Party, whose cry is “ security for alh” If these men are flung into the streets we shall soon have the sugar bag parades again. The casuals did more to put the present party into power than any other section of the community. As the war seems likely to last a long time, and work will get scarcer, would it not - be a good plan to work shorter hours and keep all in employment? An enemy at our gates will not make any distinction between permanent andcas”il. Let our members of Parliament take notice and see that all are treated fairly, and that there is equal sacrifice to all. Most of the men who will be affected bore the brunt of the depression.—l am, etc., Fair Play. Dunedin, June 14.
