Fitchett-Rudd Celebrated yesterday morning at All Saints’ Church the marriage of Dr Marcus Rattray Fitchett, only son of Dr and Mrs Frank Fitchett, of Pitt street, Dunedin, and Helen Patricia, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs W. G. Rudd, of “Benopai,” Blenheim, was attended

by relatives and a few friends. Bronze chrysanthemums and autumn foliage decorated the chancel. The ceremony was performed by the uncle of the bridegroom. Bishop Fitchett. and Mr Lilly was at the organ. A guard of honour was formed by medical students as the bride and bridegroom left the church. The bride was given away by her father. Fastened below the Peter Pan collar of her smart frock of teal blue wool, which had a box-pleated skirl and was worn with a matching three-quarter-length coat, was a delicatelywrought gold brooch which had been given to the bride’s great greatgrandmother by Napoleon. The frock’s belt and buttons were in deep mauve, matching the ribbon with which the teal blue picture hat was banded. A posy of orchids and freesias was carried and a spray of the same flowers worn on the coat’s lapel. A frock of blackberry wool, pintucked and finished with a gold ornament, had been chosen by the bridesmaid, Miss Betty Rudd (sister of the bride). White, of Preston road, Greymouth, and Ethel Rose, youngest daughter of Mrs T. Cleghorn, of Durham street, Hampden, North Otago, and the late Mr Cleghorn. The ceremony was performed by the Ven. Archdeacon Jermyn. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr A. Cleghorn, wore a frock of white embroidery taffeta. Her veil was held in place with a halo of orange blossom, and her bouquet was of jonquils and maidenhair fern. She was attended as bridesmaid by Miss Thelma Jones, of Kaikoura, her niece, who wore a frock of blue taffeta relieved with blue and pink trimmings. She carried a bouquet of Iceland poppies and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by his cousin, Mr Len Temperley, as best man. The reception took place at the residence of the bridegroom's parents in Preston road. Mason—McSkimming At the Presbyterian Church, Balclutha, on June 1, the marriage was solemnised of Clarence, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Charles Mason, of Baldutha, and Jessie Mina, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. McSkimming, of Benhar. The Rev. Mr Comber officiated, and the bride’s cousin, Miss Thelma Park, presided at the organ Messrs Hugh McSkimming and E. Mason acted as ushers. The bride wore a graceful frock of marquisette over satin, and her veil was mounted on a coronet of gardenias. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums. The bride’s sister Dorothy, attending as bridesmaid, wore a smartly-cut frock of blue velvet embossed net over taffeta. and carried a bouquet of pink chrysanthemums and carnations. Betty

and Mavis Park (cousins of the bride), dressed in pink georgette, made charming flower girls. The bridegroom was attended by Mr B. Strachan as best man. Later at the Masonic Hall, Balclutha, the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a frock of burgundy jacquard matalasse, with a hat to match. She carried a bouquet of bronze and gold chrysanthemums. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in~a smartly-tailored coat with navy hat to match, and carried a spray of scarlet carnations. Among the many guests were the grandparents of the bride, Mr and Mrs J. T. Park, of Benhar. The newly-wedded pair will make their home at Balclutha. Marshall—Mitchell The marriage was solemnised on Wednesday morning at the St. Clair Presbyterian Church of Thomas Wilson, elder son of Mr and Mrs D. Marshall, of Oamaru, and Margaret Evelyn, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs James Mitchell, of Wylie's Crossing, Mosgiel. The bride wore a clover frock with navy hat, gloves, and shoes The bridesmaid, Mrs A. Burrell, was frocked in green with brown accessories. The bridegroom was attended by his brother. Mr David Marshall. Mr and Mrs T, Marshall left later by car for a tour of the north. Their future home will be at Oamaru.
