TROTS AT FORBURY
PATRONS AT WINTER MEETING It was a grey day at Forbury Park on Saturday. Winter was in the air. Certainly, it was a better day than the week preceding it, but the sun which shone briefly was lacking in power and winter suits 'were the garb of the fair patrons of the trotting club's winter meeting. Yesterday's attendance was similarly attired, though conditions in the morning might well have led the optimistic few into more flimsy raiment, and the majority was again vindicated when clouds, borne on a cold south-westerly, brought rain in midafternoon. On the first day Mrs B. S. Irwin (wife of the president of the club) were a brown fur coat over a matching frock and a hat of henna-red velour. Miss lona Irwin's smart brown tweed coat was buttoned high to the neck and was worn with a matching peak-crowned felt hat. Those present on both days included Mesdames B. S. Irwin, W. Mackenzie, Atkinscn (Christchurch), W. J. Coughlan, Frank Toomey (Waikouaiti), P. Fogg, Alec Ferguson, Stanley Greenslade, J. Henderson (Oamaru). M. J. Hanan (Oamaru), Stanley Smith, David Smith, Eric Williams. Lionel Stephens. S. O. Fromm, and Misses lona Irwin. Lillas Samson and Flossie and Svbil Douglass (Karitane). Noticed on either day were Mesdames John Faulks, Winston Brinsley, W. Phelan. D H. Blackie. Walter Hislop, L. M. Wright, John Macdonald, Hosie, J. Richardson, R. A. Johnston, L. Macdonald, E. Buxton, R. w Brickell, A. Gamble, F. Buttle. G A Wright (Sydney), Keith Mitchell; and Misses Isobel Hinchcliffe. Gaynor Paape, Helen Woods. Beth Brailey ana Mary Minn.
