BELGIAN TOWNS BOMBED BRUSSELS AND LIEGE BRUSSELS, May 12. (Received May 13, at 2 a.m.) Raiders bombed Brussels and Liege. Belgian raid casualties before noon on Satui’day had already suroassed Friday’s total. A Rotterdam message states that the city is without drinking water owing to a fire which is one of many blazing fiercely. Fighting continues at certain points in the city. Germans living in The Hague tried to march from a house on the outskirts toward the centre of the city,' but the Dutch drove them back to the house. A Dutch tank then riddled the house with gunfire, after which the Germans remaining alive were captured. Similar action will be taken in all such cases. The Berlin radio says Allied planes bombed Essen and two other German towns. “ Britain beware,” was its message. “ German bombs always hit their mark. Germany’s patience is exhausted.” German parachutists landed to the north of Rheims and to the north of Verdun to attack the Maginot Line from the rear. At least 20 people were killed when four bombs fell in the heart of Amsterdam. PLANES OVER BRUSSELS LONDON, May 12. , (Received May 13, at 2 a.m.) The Brussels radio broadcast the Allied National Anthems and soldiers’ songs throughout the night, interspersed with reports of sighting German bombers, including a batch of 30. Another report stated that nine were flying over Malines to Louvain. The announcer at 7.3 a.m. announced that 10 were over Brussels, after which the station shut down. DUTCH OIL REFINERIES MEASURES AGAINST SABOTAGE LONDON, May 12. (Received May 13, at 2 a.m.) The Netherlands. French and British Governments have been'in consultation on steps to .prevent possible German attempts at sabotage in the important oil refineries on the Netherlands West Indian Islands of Curacao and Aruba. In view of the danger that local authorities might have insufficient forces to deal with such attempts, it has been agreed that an Allied force should at once be despatched to co-operate with local administration in necessary measures for the security of the islands. FRENCH AIR RAIDS AERODROME BOMBED (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, May 11. (Received May 12, at 8 p.m.) The French official evening communique states; “ Our troops pursued their advance, the Belgians supporting the Allied troops at various points. There was action by their advance units. The advance is rapidly progressing. The enemy continued his violent attacks and fresh •German troops have landed in Holland by parachute and aeroplanes Counter strokes are in progress, supported by the R.A.F. 11l southern Luxemburg the enemy has suffered considerable losses. To the west of Moselle he launched a sharp local attack to-day which was quickly checked. There is nothing to report on the front between the Moselle and the Swiss frontier. “ German aviation continued its bombing action on French territory. Having regard to the number of aircraft employed, the results obtained were negligible. Our aviation replied by violently bombing German aerodromes as well as military objectives of first importance.” NAZI TREACHERY APPARENTLY NO LIMIT LONDON, May 12. (Received May 13, at 2 a.m.) Every day, German parachutists are- adopting fresh moves to allow themselves to escape. Some of them are attired as clergymen and civilians, and others have been carrying dummies which they place on the ground in the hope that they may mislead observers who see them descend.
