ITALIAN SHIPPING
ALLIED MEASURES RESENTED ROME, May 11. (Received May 12, at 11 p.m.) The Under-secretary of State for the Italian Navy and the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Domenico Cavagrtari, in a speech in the Senate, declared; “The British and French disturbance of Italian shipping; must cease. Only the possession of force can modify a pact which is contrary to one’s own in- . terests.” Signor Mussolini, who was / seated in the Senate, enthusiastically applauded the speech, in which the admiral also stated that events confirmed the belief that aeroplanes have great difficulty in striking warships manoeuvring at high speed.
